New government scheme urging companies to take on apprentices
A new scheme has been launched which aims to get business to hire more apprentices.
Skills minister, John Hayes MP, has launched the drive at One New Change, a new shopping centre in the city of London that was built using apprentice labour. Business such as British Gas, BT and the BBC, all employ apprentices under the scheme but the government wants more smaller groups to get involved.
In a time of economic turmoil, jobs are scarce, and many graduates and young people are finding themselves out of work. More and more people are volunteering their services for free by the way of internships, but not everyone has the financial support to be able to kick start their careers this way.
